Highly recommended to rent a car from Alice Car Rental. No wonder they have a solid 5 stars reviews here.
- their responses via Whatsapp are prompt, almost instantaneous
- pickup from and to airport were very efficient, very short wait
- no queue when collecting the car, got the keys within 10mins
- car is in immaculate condition, everything works well, very fuel efficient at 6l/100km

Have a great experience with Alice Car Rental. They provide pick up and drop off service from the airport. They also wait for me eventhough my flight was delay from 530PM to 730PM which is beyond their working hours.
Suggest to buy full insurance cover for ease and there's a lot of wild animal in Hobart.

Had a fantastic experience with Alice Car Rental Hobart and would highly recommend them.
From start to finish, everything was smooth and hassle-free. The pricing was very competitive and affordable compared to other options, and the car itself was excellent — I got a Toyota Corolla Hybrid which was clean, fuel-efficient, and perfect for getting around.
Service was great throughout, but I want to give a special shoutout to Jas. After I returned the car, I realised I had left my phone stand behind. Jas went above and beyond by driving all the way to the airport just to return it to me. That level of effort and customer care is rare and really appreciated.
Overall, reliable cars, great value, and outstanding service. Would definitely rent from them again!

I seriously don’t understand why people continue to flock to the larger, global renters, who cost a fortune, dabble in ridiculous upsell and with whom we personally have had some unsavoury interactions (accusing us of damage (already done) - always take photos and videos people).
Alice Car Rentals are like a breath of fresh air and I am only sorry that they are not everywhere. They truly are a small business, centred on amazing customer service and great value for money. They don’t see their customers as a cash cow, rather are providing a great service, with well looked after cars for a very good price.
When I was researching for our weekend to Hobart, I did the usual and went to the big 4, including looking at using my Qantas points. The prices were ridiculous including the ask for upsell. We hire cars all the time and are absolutely fleeced despite us being good and considerate drivers and customers. I stumbled across Alice Car Hire by accident on google search - had to scroll past the paid ads of the others - only to find a really great, competitive price and a good selection of cars. I put in my inquiry and they got back to me within a few minutes saying we had a car. They sent all the directions to what we needed to do when arriving - call them and tell them we were there - picked up immediately and that they would be there within 10 mins - easy. They picked us up at the designated outside area, drove 5 mins to the pick up place. We reviewed the paperwork, no upsell as its amazingly an all inclusive and away we went after some great What to do in Hobart and surrounds by Evan. We had no problems for the 4 days, the car itself was hybrid so really economical despite us getting some KMs in on some days and was spotless and clean. We dropped it off and were over at checkin within a few mins. Again much faster and much more personable than all the rigmarole that usually goes with car hire.
The team themselves were amazing. Evan thank you for your kindness and travel tips - we took great delight in getting to do some of your suggestions. Joshen thanks for a quick and easy checkout and handoff.
Seriously people, give these great guys a chance to invest in them, spend your money with these guys, keep the AUD in Australia and help them build out in other cities so we can really give those big ones a run for their money and their monopoly. We have had enough of being ripped off.

Alice Car Rental Hobart was a great place to rent a car! They helped me out at short notice when my other car booking had fallen through and made it very easy to hire a car and extend the contract when I spontaneously decided to stay longer in Tasmania. The car was a hybrid and great to drive and made driving on the "other" side very easy (I am from Europe). They were very helpful and supportive, next time I am in Tasmania or Alice Springs, I will definitely rent with them again! If you are looking for local car rental with friendly staff, you have found them 🙂

Hired a Toyota 4wd to drive Strahan and back car was clean and running well . The owner and staff were friendly and polite and nothing was a problem they even linked my phone to radio as I couldn’t. As far as pricing goes there were cheaper by a long way although not at the airport they are there when you land and they drop you back there when leaving . I’m going back soon and will definitely be using them again.

Getting a rental car from this place is one of the best decisions that I made while in Tasmania. The owners are so kind. They lended me and my friend chargers to charge our phones and let us get a deal on the camping equipment. They also picked us up and dropped us off from the airport.
We got a hybrid car to take it all out Tasmania and really explore the whole entire place so I’m super thankful that I was able to get one for such a good price here.

We recently rented a Subaru from Alice Car Rental at Hobart Airport for a three-day tour of Tasmania, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The price was incredibly affordable—much cheaper than most car rentals, and the quality exceeded our expectations. The car was smooth, clean, and felt like it was brand new, making our trip even more enjoyable.
A special shout-out to Jashan, who went above and beyond to ensure our convenience. He picked us up from the airport and took us to the car pick-up point, which is just a quick 5-minute drive away. The drop-off process was equally seamless, with Jashan taking us back to the airport. The customer service was excellent, and we couldn’t have asked for more.
